What the difference between diplomacy in practice?

I’ve been reading a lot about modern approaches to international relations and came across the term “conference diplomacy.” I get the idea that it’s about negotiations and agreements through global meetings, but I’d love to hear examples of how it actually works in real life. Does it still play a big role today, or is it more symbolic?

In Pips NYT, the last domino didn’t fit anywhere, and I had to rethink the entire board. Finally spotting the right spot felt like pure logic victory.

From what I’ve seen, conference diplomacy is still very much alive — especially in regions like the Gulf. When you attend these high-level forums, like the ones EurAsia Gulf hosts, you realize they’re not just ceremonial. Real deals and policy outlines are discussed informally during coffee breaks and side sessions. I’ve seen delegations use these conferences to quietly build partnerships long before anything gets signed officially. It’s the behind-the-scenes part of diplomacy that often matters more than the official press releases.
