Give advice on casino bonuses

I keep seeing these massive welcome bonuses but I'm not sure if they are worth it. Most of them have these "wagering requirements" that I don't really understand. How do I actually turn that bonus money into real cash that I can withdraw? Is it better to skip the bonus entirely and just play with my own money? I'd love to hear how you guys handle these offers.
